ZIMBABWE LITHIUM MARKET

A market in the middle of a policy shift.

In February 2026, Zimbabwe’s government suspended exports of unprocessed lithium concentrate, accelerating a beneficiation deadline originally set for January 2027. Producers are now racing to bring domestic processing plants online, and industry groups have requested the deadline be pushed to June 2027 to match construction timelines. The shift is reshaping who benefits from Zimbabwe’s lithium sector — and creating new demand for local tolling and processing capacity.
